In June, the Combat Vets Motorcycle Association – El Paso Chapter held their annual run, this year to benefit the TexVet organization. TexVet helps out veterans in need in a variety of ways including in food pantries, issues with bills, and housing. CVMA is a nonprofit biker organization run by veterans for veterans. They encompass every branch of armed services. They let me know that they even have a member that is a Coast Guard veteran! To be a full patch member for the Association, every member has to have served in a combat tour during their duty. Even though they are a national organization, each chapter specializes in helping local veterans with local issues.
This is their first year helping the TexVet association. “Each year, we do our research on who we’re going to help. We make sure they’re legitimate and vote and select who are going to the beneficiaries,” stated Mandingo with the CVMA.
CVMA-El Paso is also excited to announce that they are scheduled to host the organization’s national convention in 2018 here in the Sun City. “Think about that almost every state has at least one representative, and many have many more. Texas has 14 chapters! That’s going to be a lot of bikers/veterans that will be coming down then.”
Mojo explained, “We’ve worked with Destination El Paso to make this work for everyone involved. We’re probably looking at 2000 to 3000 members travelling from all over the United States to arrive here in El Paso.” Scoop added that they are currently working hard to schedule nationally known celebrities and acts to perform for their national association members.
